    lexis_library, lexis library logo Lexis+ Try this if you want to find up-to-date legal information, resources and expert opinion from established names such as Butterworths, Tolley and Halsbury’s. Plus specific titles such as Blackstone’s criminal practice. You can get current full text Acts of Parliament and check for latest amendments. Watch this video to find out about performing a search.

You will need to register for a free account, but by using your University of Cumbria email address you will get paid for content. See the linked page for details. 
    proquest, proquest logo ProQuest Criminal Justice This is a comprehensive database supporting research on crime, its causes and impacts, legal and social implications, as well as litigation and crime trends. A mix of full-text journals, references, abstracts, reports and conference proceedings. This database allows you to filter your results by location: you will be able to find UK specific results.     proquest, proquest logo ProQuest Psychology 540 full text journals from a range of psychology disciplines. This database allows you to filter your results by location: you will be able to find UK specific results.

    sage, sage logo Sage Premier Journals A large multidisciplinary database covering many areas including the social sciences. Includes almost 50 criminology and policing titles, many with a UK focus.
    socindex, socindex logo SocINDEX with Full Text Comprehensive high quality sociology research database. Providing full-text, peer-reviewed sociology journals covering many studies including gender studies, criminal justice, social psychology, racial studies, religion and social work.

    Psychology Crime and Law Psychology, Crime & Law promotes the study and application of psychological approaches to crime, criminal and civil law, and the influence of law on behavior. 
    Punishment and Society Punishment and Society is an international, interdisciplinary, peer reviewed journal that publishes the highest quality original research and scholarship dealing with punishment, penal institutions and penal control.

    Access to publications and news about crime. The centre for crime and justice studies is independent and non-partisan.

    College of Policing APP

    Authorised professional practice page of the College of Policing. Information on many different specialist areas including armed policing, counter terrorism and investigation.

    Crown Prosecution Service

    The Crown Prosecution Service is the Government Department responsible for prosecuting criminal cases investigated by the police in England and Wales. Useful site with up to date information, news and guidance on legal documents.

    Cumbria Constabulary

    Local constabulary website for the Cumbria area. 

    Full Fact

    Full Fact are an independent fact checking charity. They aim to check claims made by politicians, the media and pressure groups, and stop misinformation spreading by pressing for corrections.

    Official report of all parliamentary debates

    The Home Office

    Includes links to policy information, statistics, firearms, Government publications and regulations.

    House of Commons Library

    Website from the House of Commons library focusing on policing related matters. 

    The Ministry of Justice

    A ministerial department supported by agencies and public bodies working to create a responsive criminal justice system.

    Office for National Statistics (ONS)

    An independent producer or official statistics for the UK. Look under the People, Populations and Community tab for information on crime and justice.  

    Police.UK

    The local area crime and policing site - providing helpful links to local crime statistics, neighbourhood watch, Crimestoppers, and UK police force area websites.

    Society of Evidence Based Policing

    A society of police officers, police staff and research professionals aiming to improve policing with an evidence based approach.
