Case studies
A case study assignment is an opportunity to demonstrate and deepen your understanding of key theories and concepts from your course by using them to analyse a ‘real-life’ case.
- You might be asked to provide a solution to the case: e.g. Education students asked to design support interventions for a theoretical pupil
- Or you might be asked to explain why a case happened the way it did: e.g. Policing students presented with a protest which became a riot, and asked to explain exacerbating factors.
- Or health students given a patient scenario and asked to explore the factors that would impact on that patient.
Applying the theory to analyse a real world example is an opportunity to illustrate the theory and demonstrate your understanding of it.
