  • Disability/SpLD Support Plans

    What is a Support Plan?

    The Disability Services team write and distribute Disability/SpLD Support Plans for students with disabilities, Specific Learning Differences ( i.e. Dyslexia and Dyspraxia), Neurodivergence (i.e. ADHD and Autism), long term physical conditions (i.e. Diabetes, Epilepsy), Mental Health conditions (i.e. depression and anxiety) and hearing or visual impairments. Plans outline the support available and reasonable adjustments required.

    How will a support plan help me?

    A Support Plan may include:

    Reasonable Adjustments for Exams, such as extra time.

    Specialist Study skills and Mentoring

    This support is designed to help students with structuring & organising information, development of grammar, punctuation, and spelling; and to promote development of academic skills. Mentoring provides support with developing strategies to organise academic work and study tasks.

  • Access to funded support

    We offer eligible students help to apply fo  Disabled Students’ Allowance (DSA) to cover the cost of any additional support you need at University, relating to disability or health, such as equipment, software and study skills or mentoring.

    DSA is not available for apprentice students, but ESFA funded support is available through the University for HLA students.

  • Information and guidance meetings

    We offer meetings with a Disability Officer online via Teams, by phone or in person, to discuss any reasonable adjustments, or to assist with any Disability related queries.
