We want all students to be able to access the spaces and resources they need to support their academic studies.

Accessibility and spaces

There are lifts at our libraries where stock is held on more than one floor and lifts to the libraries where it is not on the ground floor. There are step stools or mobile ladders to help you reach shelves safely.

Remember you can use OneSearch to place book requests. Select the books that you want and we will get them ready for you to collect.

Accessibility and resources

Visit the ebook accessibility page for information about accessibility features available from ebook suppliers, eg changing background colours, changing contrast colours or adjusting your device's text display settings and more.

Visit the eresources and assistive technology page for information to support you accessing materials using Assistive Software and how to make changes to the environment to enable ease of access.

Assistive technology and Accessibility apps

This Assistive Software page describes the types of assistive software available and explains what software you can access on and off campus to support your studies.

The Apps for Learning page shares useful tips and information about apps on mobile phones as well as apps to support specific learning needs and wellbeing.

The Library Loan Equipment page lists items that you can borrow from our campus library desks.

If there's anything else we can do to facilitate access to library resources and spaces please contact us on library@cumbria.ac.uk. We are happy to discuss your suggestions for ways that we can enhance accessibility in the library.
