Ebook Downloads
Downloading allows you to make a copy of the book or a chapter to come back to at a later date when you are not online but it requires additional software and has limited functions. Some licences restrict downloading but if it is available you will find these options:
1. Download the whole ebook
Downloading an entire ebook is usually restricted for a specific period. The length you can keep from 1 day to 21 days depending on the Library's licence.
You will usually require third-party reader software such as Adobe Digital Editions (Proquest) or Thorium (EBSCO). Please note Thorium is not available on University devices.
There is an issue with new tablets being unable to download Adobe digital editions. There is a workaround on the Proquest help pages.
For further information on downloading ebooks, please see our EbooksGuide
2. Download a chapter or pages in PDF to keep.
PDF documents can be read within an internet browser or using Adobe Acrobat Reader. The amount of an ebook that you can download is restricted for copyright reasons. Check the ebook's information page for title-specific download allowances.
