Module Registration

Module registration is the process where the modules you will be studying are attached to your student record.

Full Time Students

If you are a full-time student, you will be able to view your modules for the next Academic Year as part of the online registration process. This allows you to see how your programme is structured and understand what you will be studying in the year ahead. Accessing your module information during registration helps you to plan your studies effectively and ensures you are enrolled on the correct modules in line with your course requirements.

Some courses, such as Occupational Therapy and Radiography, follow a fixed programme structure. This means you will automatically be enrolled on a full set of compulsory modules that must be completed in a specific sequence to meet professional, accreditation, or regulatory requirements. For these programmes, module selection is not required, as your pathway is pre-defined to support your progression and readiness for practice.

Other courses offer greater flexibility and allow you to choose elective modules alongside your compulsory modules. Electives give you the opportunity to tailor your studies to your interests, develop specialist knowledge, or explore subjects that complement your main area of study. During online registration, you will be guided through the available options and shown which elective modules are open to you.

You will be provided with clear and detailed instructions outlining which module combinations you can or cannot take together. This information ensures that your choices align with academic regulations and timetabling constraints. Guidance will also confirm whether you are required to complete a fixed number of academic credits through your elective choices. By following the instructions carefully during online registration, you can be confident that your module selection supports your academic progression and meets the requirements of your course.

Part - Time Students

Part-time students are required to complete a Part Time Module Registration Form to confirm their module choices for the upcoming Academic Year. This process ensures that you are enrolled on the correct modules in line with your course structure, study plan, and credit requirements, and helps the University provide appropriate academic and administrative support throughout your studies.

For part-time students studying non-health courses, the Part Time Module Registration Form must be completed and submitted as instructed by your programme team. The form allows you to clearly indicate which modules you intend to study and helps ensure your registration is processed accurately and efficiently.

For part-time students on health-related courses, module registration forms will be made available on the relevant programme pages within Blackboard. These forms are tailored to the specific requirements of health programmes, which often have fixed pathways, professional standards, or placement-related considerations. You should check Blackboard regularly to access the correct form and review any accompanying guidance before completing it.

Once you have completed the appropriate module registration form, it must be returned to Programme Administration within the specified timeframe. This is an important step, as delays or incomplete forms may affect your enrolment, access to learning materials, or progression on your course. Programme Administration will review your submission to ensure it meets academic regulations and credit requirements.

If you are unsure which form you need to complete, or have questions about your module choices, you are encouraged to seek advice from your Programme Team or Programme Administration before submitting your form. Completing your module registration accurately and on time will help ensure a smooth start to the Academic Year and support your ongoing success as a part-time student.

Assignments:

At the University of Cumbria, assignments are an integral part of your academic journey and are designed to support you in demonstrating your understanding and achievement of module learning outcomes. Throughout your course you’ll be asked to complete a variety of assessments, from essays and portfolios to projects and practical tasks, all guided by the University’s academic regulations. For most coursework, submissions are made securely online via Blackboard or Pebblepad, and clear instructions are provided in your Module Guide to help you prepare and submit your work correctly. Online submission not only ensures your work reaches the appropriate team safely but also includes an academic integrity declaration, reinforcing the importance of original scholarship. All written work should be word-processed in the required format and referenced appropriately, typically using the Harvard system. If you encounter issues with deadlines, authorised extensions may be arranged with your Module Leader, and support is available if you experience challenges during the assessment process. By engaging fully with the assignment guidelines and support resources, you’ll be well placed to succeed and make meaningful progress in your studies.
