Can't Find It?
The library provides an extensive collection of resources to support learning, teaching and research via OneSearch and the Library Subject Pages. If you want to access material we do not have, such as a specific book or article, then here are some options to consider:
Google Scholar
Google Scholar can assist in locating academic literature. It provides details of journal articles, scientific papers, conference proceedings and so on from a variety of sources. In some instances, you will find freely available access to the full text but this is not comprehensive. To setup Scholar so it links to our library resources click the link below.
The 'Get More Books' recommendation scheme
If there is a book that you would find useful that we don't have in our library collections, or if there is a book that you think the library should have more copies of, then the Get More Books scheme is open to all University of Cumbria students.
Request an item from another library
The Inter-Library Loans service enables you to obtain items related to your academic studies that we do not have in our own stock of books, journals and electronic resources.
Open Access
Some publishers make a selection of their material 'open access', in other words, freely available online and not behind a paywall. This page will help you discover open access platforms and resources.
Visiting other libraries
The University of Cumbria Library is a member of various schemes that enable you to visit and use other education libraries in the UK and Ireland.
