When you use our university’s computers, electronic information or communication facilities, you must comply with a specific set of rules.

These rules aren’t just our university’s rules. Some of them are imposed by other organisations that provide access to networks and software. Other rules respond to legislation that applies to all organisations using computer facilities.

Information Services is responsible for a number of official policies which cover security, usage and management if IT equipment and services.

The Computer Acceptable Use Policy is essential reading. It covers the codes of conduct and regulations relating to how we use all University of Cumbria computer, electronic information and communication facilities.

The E-Safety Policy outlines the university’s approach to electronic safety. It is important that you read this.

The Information Security Policy establishes clearly the university’s policies regarding acceptable and responsible use of the university’s IT systems.
