Whether you consider yourself to be environmental aware or not many of the elements of ‘sustainability’ make sound financial sense. Recycling and reusing rather than replacing with new is an obvious example. The University of Cumbria Students’ Union Eco UCSU project offers many ideas on how to minimise your impact in environmental terms (and therefore maximise your income) ranging from cutting your consumption of electricity/gas through to growing your own food!
You can find out more about the Eco UCSU here and there is also a lifelong learning resource has been designed by the Students’ Union to help you look at ways you can change your habits over the course of a day in the life of an average student. You can access the module here: www.greenermindsmodule.co.uk
You can also find out more about the various green volunteering opportunities offered by UCSU across the University, so if you fancy having a go at growing some seasonal veg on the student allotment now’s your chance!
