How do I know that the information I have read on a website is reliable?

You need to be aware that there are different types of information that are available to you as a researcher and some types are more reliable than others. If you want to include information from a more obscure website, you should be asking yourself whether the information is reliable or not by considering aspects like the credentials of the author/organisation, checking when the website was last updated, whether the site itself refers to other reliable sources etc.

You could also complete the Information Literacy and Not all nformationis equal sections from Head Start (available via the skills@cumbria tab on Blackboard) to help you evaluate websites.
