The University of Cumbria holds the extensive scouting collection of the late Mr Kenneth Caton Jackson. The Scouting Collection is a reference collection of books relating to all aspects of scouting and guiding.

The collection's coverage dates from the formation of the Scouting and Guiding movements in the early 20th century up till the 1990s. The collection includes handbooks and guidebooks covering different aspects of scouting and associated subjects. There are books on Baden Powell, natural history, landscape, bushcraft, and survival skills. The collection is shelved in alphabetical order by author.

The scouting books are available to search on the library catalogue. Members of the public and Alumni are welcome to use the libraries for reference and study purposes free of charge. Please contact the library in advance of visiting if you wish to view the Scouting Collection.
