  • Making a careers appointment

    Career appointments are available online via MS Teams or by phone. We can meet you in person at some campuses - please check the bookings calendar for our availability. We can help with:

    • career planning and options with your degree  
    • postgraduate study 
    • help finding work experience or a placement opportunity 
    • help finding work 
    • help with a CV or application 
    • help getting prepared for an interview 

    Mock interview appointments 

    A mock interview can help you prepare for a job or academic course interview. This will always be tailored to the specific job or course you are interviewing for and can be an invaluable 'test run' before the day.  

    Self-employment appointments 

    If you are considering starting your own business or side-hustle, you can get some information on how to take the next steps.  

    Appointments are with our Student Enterprise adviser who can advise on all enterprise topics such as 

    • entrepreneurship  
    • freelancing  
    • growing your business 
    • becoming self-employed  
    • practical and financial support available locally 
    • and any other questions you might have

    To book an appointment, go to ‘Appointments’ on the My Career Enriched dashboard. If you can't find a date or time that works for you, please get in touch via the Queries tab or email careers@cumbria.ac.uk

    Get personalised feedback on your applications and CVs to help you stand out.  To request feedback, click here:

    Tell us what you want to use your application for and if applicable include links to the opportunity you are applying to, including any job descriptions, person specifications or course details. This will enable us to provide tailored feedback.  

    Please note that we won’t proofread your drafts, but we will suggest ways you can improve the content.  

    Don’t forget to look at the information resources on writing applications, CVs, letters first : click here for more information.  

    You need to allow up to 5 working days for feedback.

  • Help disclosing a disability or health condition

    Finding suitable work and planning a career can be a major concern for many students with a disability or health condition. 

    The Careers & Employability Service can offer additional support and can provide information, advice and guidance on accessing disability confident employers and voluntary organisations, disclosing your disability and requesting reasonable adjustments during the recruitment process and beyond. Go to our Inclusion section for more information.
