Report an Absence:

If you are unable to attend University or your placement sessions, you must report your absence as soon as possible and before 9am on the first day of absence where possible.  

Please note: ITE students who are absent during a placement day must also contact their placement school, before the school day starts and advise them of their absence and the reasons for this.  

For students on Health programmes with a placement element, students should report their absence via ICON and also contact their placement location directly to inform them of the details and record your absence via your PARE/placement timesheet. You must also contact your personal tutor to confirm your absence.  

Report Your Absence to the University

You must report your absence as soon as possible so the University to ensure we can support you and keep your attendance record up to date. To report an absence please:

  1. Log into ICON and navigate to My Student Details.  Here you can submit an absence. 
  2. You can also access ICON via the Student Hub.  

Requests for Time Away

If you require some time away from your course for example to attend a family occasion you will need to contact Programme Administration to request the relevant form. This must be completed and agreed before your time away.   

  1. Contact Programme Administration for an Absence Request Form  
  2. Complete the form 
  3. Ask your personal tutor to agree and sign this for you 
  4. Return the form to Programme Administration to process
