MEDLINE is the U.S. National Library of Medicine journal citation database covering medicine, nursing, dentistry, veterinary medicine, the health care system, pre-clinical sciences, and much more. This version includes citations from 5,200 scholarly journals and full-text from more than 1,450. It's articles have been assigned MeSH (Medical subject headings) indexing with tree, tree hierarchy, subheadings and explosion capabilities. It forms part of PubMed.
PubMed vs MedLine. Some people find the search easier in Pubmed and it searches wider content but it does not provide full-text, just occasional links to freely available content. MEDLINE is better for targeted Medical subject searching (has better indexing) and quick access to the full-text content.
Coverage dating back to 1949 and full-text back to 1965.
1450 full-text journals.
Simple and advanced search options.
Search specific journals.
Can search using MeSH terminology.
