Staff Training and Guide to Supporting Students-262x204.png)
University staff are providing increasing support to students, offering help and advice for concerns outside of their studies. We do not expect you to know the answer to every question, but we want you to feel prepared, to be able to support students and be able to signpost the student to the appropriate support services.
The guidance we have provided will give you information on how to support students and which services you can refer students to so they can get the specialist advice and support they require at the right time.
Staff Harassment and Sexual Misconduct Training
As part of our commitment to fostering a safe and respectful working environment, all employees of the University of Cumbria are required to complete mandatory training on Sexual Misconduct and Harassment. This training is delivered through our intranet (staffhub) and is provided by Marshall’s. The course is designed to help colleagues understand what constitutes harassment and sexual misconduct, how to recognise inappropriate behaviour, and how to respond or seek support. This initiative reflects our dedication to ensuring that everyone in our university community feels safe, respected, and empowered to thrive without fear of harassment or abuse.
Mandatory training for employees can be accessed here: https://unicumbriaac.sharepoint.com/sites/HR/SitePages/Mandatory-Training.aspx
Additionally, all Investigating Officers are given specific training to support them with investigating matters of Harassment and Sexual Misconduct.
