    The Apprenticeship and Employer Skills team is part of the Academic Registry at the University of Cumbria and supports students and businesses across a wide range of apprenticeship standards throughout England. We offer comprehensive business support, guiding employers through every stage of the apprenticeship journey from onboarding and programme administration to contractual and compliance-related matters. Our team is always available to answer your questions or direct you to the most appropriate point of contact.

  • Support for your Apprentice

    We provide responsive apprentice support that promotes apprentice success. Our approach to apprentice support is designed to support achievement and progression, champion inclusivity and accessibility, prepare them for opportunities beyond study, and promote independence and resilience, enabling apprentices to achieve your potential. Apprentices at the University of Cumbria, will be taught by academics and expert practitioners who facilitate learning through structured inquiry and will will be provided with access to high quality academic resources through physical and digital libraries and will be supported to develop skills that enable them to become a critical, reflective, discerning and independent learner and researcher.

    Alongside the dedicated support of a named Business Development Officer, your organisation will also benefit from the expertise of an Apprenticeship and Employer Skills Assistant, based within the Apprenticeship and Employer Skills Team. This individual works in close partnership with your Business Development Officer to ensure a seamless and coordinated approach to supporting both employers and apprentices.

    They manage the day-to-day administration of the apprenticeship programme and serve as the primary point of contact for your apprentices on all administrative matters. Their responsibilities include handling documentation, coordinating essential communications, monitoring apprentice progress, and liaising with our internal compliance team to ensure all funding and regulatory requirements are met.

    In addition, they bring valuable experience and knowledge to the role, having developed a strong understanding of apprenticeship processes. They also collaborate closely with academic colleagues to ensure a joined-up approach to programme delivery.
