About the Digital Capability initiative
"Digital capability allows us to be effective and responsible participants in a digital society"
What's in it for me?
Improved employability, as our students graduate with the diigital skills needed in work. Better academic results, with students being equipped with the skills needed for study. Improved staff ability to support students, work more efficiently, and use the technology provided. Better Technology Enhanced Learning (“TEL”) capability, allowing us to innovate more in course delivery. Finally, enhancing these skills makes us more accessible and inclusive.
What's the initiative?
The project that produced this website, which signposts to our existing Digital Capability resources, is just the first step in our plan to transform the University so that the skills are embedded in the student experience, and in our staff's careers. We hope to structure individual progress around "badges" which travel with you.
The JISC framework
JISC (the UK higher, further education and skills sectors’ not-for-profit organisation for digital services and solutions) have been running a 4 year project to transform the sector's capabilities. The result is the JISC Digital Capability Framework. Like most HEIs, we are basing our iniitiative on the JISC framework.
