Ambleside has a fantastic flexible learning space based in the newly refurbished Barn with additional study space in the nearby Charlotte Mason Building. The Barn provides learning spaces, social and flexible areas, and learning resources/library services, with particular emphasis on outdoor studies, forestry, conservation, forensic science and business and leadership. There is also an integrated Reception for the campus, adjacent Barn café offering hot and cold snacks, IT access, networked and wireless internet connection, laptop loans, and a range of spaces available for study, meeting, and research, means the space is as flexible as possible.
The main library is located on the top floor of the Skiddaw building at Fusehill. Its holdings focus on health, education and the social sciences and include a law library and a large teaching practice collection.
The library at Brampton road is on the ground floor, and the main subject areas are the arts and policing. Books can be collected and returned here, study space and wireless access are available and there is a staffed LiSS information point.
Located next to The Keep, the library has fantastic views across the city. It has a diverse collection of over 160,000 items covering most subject areas.
If you are based at the University of Cumbria in London, you can use the library on site. Plus, you can use the Tower Hamlets Schools Library Service which has an extensive collection of materials to support your Teaching Practice.
In addition, you can request books and journal articles from the other University of Cumbria libraries.
The University Centre at Furness College provides state of the art facilities for all university students in the Furness area. As well as teaching space the centre provides flexible study space, computing facilities and a core collection of library books.
