Candidates who fail to meet the requirements for the award of an honours degree may be eligible for an exit award where this has been approved at validation.  Arrangements may vary for Apprenticeship programmes, reflecting the different funding arrangements associated with the target awards of an apprenticeship.

If the award that that appears on ICON (your online student record) or statement of results is not your expected award there may be several reasons for this

  • Undergraduate students registered on a substantive award

    Exit awards:
    • Certificate in Higher Education (Cert HE): If you have been awarded this, you will have obtained a minimum of 120 credits (or over but less than 240 credits) but you may have have confirmed fails (shown as CF) in your profile that stop you from progressing further and obtaining your intended degree or award.
    • Diploma in Higher Education (Dip HE): If you have been this, you will have obtained 240 credits (or over but less than 300 credits) and have confirmed fails (shown as CF) in your profile that stop you from progressing further and obtaining your intended degree or award.
    • BA/BSc/LLB/BEng (Ordinary): If you have been awarded an Ordinary degree you will have obtained 300 credits (or over but less than 360 credits) and have confirmed fails (shown as CF) in your profile that stop you from obtaining your intended degree or award.
    Certificate:

If you have been awarded an exit award, you will be sent a certificate and transcript of results.

    Graduation:

If you have registered your attendance at graduation and have been awarded a DipHE or Ordinary degree as an exit award you will be eligible to attend.

  • Postgraduate students

    Final awards

Postgraduate Certificate (PG Cert): If you have been awarded a Postgraduate Certificate you will have obtained 60 credits (or over but less than the credit required for your intended award).

Postgraduate Diploma(PG Dip): if you have been awarded a Postgraduate Diploma you will have obtained 120 credits (or over but less than 180 credits).

    Certificate:

If you have been awarded a final award, you will be sent a certificate and transcript of results.
