Eduroam

eduroamlogovs2

Eduroam (education roaming) is the secure, world-wide roaming access service developed for the international research and education community.

Eduroam allows students, researchers and staff from participating institutions to obtain Internet connectivity across campus and when visiting other participating institutions using their Wi-Fi enabled devices.

The University of Cumbria is a participating member of eduroam, and as such all university staff and students can logon to eduroam at all participating sites around the world using their usual network username appended with @cumbria.ac.uk and network password.

For information on participating organisations please click here.

Eduroam comes in two flavours, Home and Visited. The university operates both types of service.

University of Cumbria staff and students

To ensure that your mobile device will work at other institutions, please setup eduroam on your mobile device whilst you are on the University of Cumbria campus, as other institutions are not obliged to provide you with support if you have any problems.

How you log on to Eduroam

The username for the eduroam service that you use is made up of two parts:

  • Your university realm name which is @cumbria.ac.uk
  • Your network login name and password

So to log on to eduroam, you would use:

Username: your network username@cumbria.ac.uk

eg: for students - 123456@cumbria.ac.uk (note no S at the beginning)
eg: for staff - joe.bloggs@cumbria.ac.uk

Password: your network password

Please do not confuse your eduroam username with your email - it is not your email even though it may look like it.

Eduroam is available on most popular devices, however it should be noted that not all devices are compatible with the service.

To configure your specific device, please select the operating system of your device from the list below.  For Windows 8.1 specific instructions, please click here.
