  • Internships

Internships provide invaluable insights into specific roles and industries; they will help you determine whether a job is right for you, while also helping you gain useful transferable skills and work experience.

Internships can last from a week to a year depending on the sector and the employer and are usually undertaken over the summer months or after graduation. Employers can use periods of work experience to assess capability and often recruit from their interns.

    Virtual Internships

A virtual internship is a way of undertaking work experience with an employer but it is done digitally and remotely rather than in person. While virtual internship opportunities share many similarities with in-person internships, their online nature allows participants to work with organisations across the country, even globally.

  • Finding a Disability Confident Employer

The Disability Confident Scheme run by the UK government, encourages employers to take extra steps to make their workplaces inclusive and accessible for disabled people.

Look for the “Disability Confident” logo on job adverts, application forms or the employers website. This indicates the employer is committed to employing disabled people and may offer a guaranteed interview if you meet the minimum job requirements.
